History of the order. Back in 1898 in Seattle, Washington, a small group of theatre owners met to form a fun organization. They called it the "Seattle Order of Good Things.". A few years after its inception, the order chose the eagle as its symbol, calling itself the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

As their numbers grew, the Order chose the Bald Eagles as their official emblem and changed the name of the organization to "The Fraternal Order of Eagles, with a goal to "make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope."
