Between about 1605 and 1614, Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk and Lord Treasurer to James I, took an earlier house created by his grandfather and rebuilt it on the scale of a royal palace. So grand was it that about 50 years later Charles II.

Between 1 st April and 30 th September, Audley House is open from 12.00pm to 17.00pm and the gardens are open from 10.00am to 18.00m each day. Opening times change during other months.
