Atatürk İzmir'e geldiğinde, İsmet İnönü ile birlikte Naim Palas'ta kaldı. Daha sonra 13 Ekim 1926'da İzmir belediyesi tarafından bina satın alınarak Atatürk'e hediye edildi.
